Hi hi hi to all of you from all of me. Glad to see more more familiar names showing up. Has anyone found Sharon Harshbarger Kennedy yet? I've lost track of her and most others since I haven't made it back home since our 20 year reunion. Really hope to make it this year.

Dave Riley

Recently had lunch with Lin Snowa who has moved to my area.

Haven't seen him since graduation in 1964.

Just got back from Palm Desert, CA where I spent two days with Fred Antonelli.

Haven't seen him since U of R graduation in 1968.

Its really fun to catch up on old friendships!!

Can't wait for October to get here!!!

                  Dave

Fred Antonelli

Enjoyed a great visit with Dave Riley recently when he was in southern California.  Upon viewing the list of many of our classmates who are now deceased, we both realized how fortunate we are to have the chance to attend our upcoming 50th TJHS reunion.  Our hope is that all of you will seize this wonderful opportunity to reconnect with your past and renew friendships that began over a half-century ago in Richmond.  Looking forward to visiting with you in October!

I was looking at pictures from the Class of 1964. The one of the cheerleaders brought back memories of Mrs. Wanderer's homeroom (#103) class. An insane number (7)! was from our homeroom. Linda Charnock, Beth Prillaman, Margaret Hutcheson, Fran Ford, Penny Wheatcroft, and Donna Newman. And--Dave Riley from the men's squad. No wonder I didn't make many friends- a shy kid and SEVEN CHEERLEADERS! Also wasn't Margaret Snead also a cheerleader for a while? This would make EIGHT.

Just another random thought. I mentioned Mrs. Wanderer's homeroom class(rm#103) had 7, maybe 8 cheerleaders. Also, I can remember from the football team, players in this classroom were Andy Leake, Dave Satterfield, Foster Witt and Buddy Mawyer.Oh! And Little Jeff(remember her) wasn't it Pat Randall? She was in this homeroom too.

Hey Mel Bookman,

I'm pretty sure that Donna Newman was in Mr. Fleming's homeroom as she sat right behind me. I think she even jabbed me in the butt with her pencil one day. I guess that I may have deserved the jab, but for the life of me I can't remember what motivated her to do that.

Hope all of you are planning on attending the reunion. I'm so looking forward to seeing all of you again.

Hey Tom, Guess I just had a senior moment about Donna. I remember you from the "old neighborhood around Sheppard St. where your dad had his restaurant "Tom's" for so many years. Passed some time eating hot dogs and drinking sodas there. Choicca's was just by Robt E Lee elementary. The home of the first Monday night TV football game in Richmond. Still in business I think. Didn't you write for the Times Dispatch for a while or work for them in some capacity? Mel

Yes, Ralph Grove, I remember you. How have you been doing? Do you remember Woody and Carol Lane? Send me your picture. I don't see where you were in the profiles.

Shades of Deja Vu!  I attended my step-grandson's high school graduation today (May 29, 2014).  Being California it was held in the interior court yard of the mission-styled high school at 8:00 in the morning.  The reason given for such a time was rather sketchy.  This was the first high school commencement that I have attended since ours 50 years ago.

One of the student speakers titled her speech "Don't Blink" based on the advice her mother gave her when she started at the school.  "Your time there will pass so quickly that if you blink you may miss many of those people and events that will make up your high school experience".  Was true for us then as it is now.

I am greatly enjoying everyone's comments and recollections.  I obviously blinked a lot at TJ, thus the deja vu, and am looking forward to seeing everyone in October.

Great web site Sally! Thank you and those who helped you for all the hard work putting it together.

Had a very nice conversation with Irv Green on Friday.  So glad he gave me this information.  It has been so long since I heard from anyone from the class.  I keep in touch with Judy Branch (Reynolds) from time to time and a few others not in our class.  I live in Kitty Hawk, NC, and don't get back to Richmond often.  I have already been in touch with two old friends from the class.  Hope to hear from more of you guys.

So sorry to see that Woody Gray passed away in 2006. We grew up together and he rode with me and Carol Lane in my car to school every day through high school.  I did see him several times when he worked for Park and Rec. but lost track of him for many years. He was a very sweet person and I know he's missed terribly.

Sally, I see where you found Melvin Solomon. He and I lived practically next door and went all  the way through school together. Is he coming to the reunion and do we have a way of contacting him.

Wayne, yes, after searching the entire globe we found Melvin -- back in Richmond and working night and day on a big software security project! Don't know if he plans to take time awary from his project to attend the reunion but if you call me, I'll give you his number and you can contact him and maybe encourage him to attend. Also,if he won't attend the reunion, let me know and we'll organize a visit to him the reunion weekend --at his home or somewhere else he chooses.

Sally,

Please send me Melvin's number too.  I would love to talk to him.  He was an enjoyable person.  I too work with IT software.

Adding my voice to the DRAFT SOLOMAN initiative  .Please   Flip me his number and I, too, will check in-- though the concept of a 'surprise visit' is also  intriguing.

I absolutely loved the "Did you know"page. My Mom graduated TJ in 1937 as well is my brother in 1967. I am getting more excited to see everyone at the reunion. The reunion committee has done an excellent job! Congratulations.

Just a random observation. Just looked through the 1964 Monticello and saw picture of the Spanish Club. There were 51 people, 48 girls and 3 lucky guys. Stuart Gary, Wayne Friedlander and Tom Barden. Maybe if I hadn't flunked 7th grade Spanish, I would have had a date in high school! Probably having a car would have also helped.

Mel Bookman Que lastima on you not joining the Spanish Club..  Look foward to seeing all of you this weekend and I will bring my new young wife who probably had a brain burp when she said yes followed by I do.  It was great hearing all your names and reliving some of the adventures we all had.

Curse you, Freedlander! Te odio!  You hombres always grabbed all the senoritas and senoras!

Sacre bleu! If I remember correctly, in the sixth grade at Mary Munford a bunch of students were given initial exposure to a foreign language, with half randomly aimed at espanol, and hald aimed at le francais.  I fell into the French category and followed that road all the way to the end.

And now I can see that THAT is when my life began to go off the tracks...

Oh, well, that's agua under the puente at this point.  Happy 50th !!!

Who remembers the rows of desks bolted to the floor, hinged seats on the front of each for the desk in front?
