Emery passed away in November, 2006, after fighting esphageal cancer contracted from asbestos exposure. He is burried in Hollywood Cemetery here in Richmond. Emery lived in Atlantic Beach, Florida, with his wife, Mary. He founded the Society of International Explosives Engineers.
